Summer Update #2
Posted 8/3/22

Hello El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies Learning Community,

Here is some more information for families as we prepare to return to school on August 15, 2022.

-Classroom assignments are temporary until September 15, 2022 at the LAUSD “norm” day when enrolled students are counted. Student head count will determine how many teachers will continue to be assigned to our school. Teacher count can decrease or increase depending on the number of students enrolled and attending.

-Returning students will go back to their classrooms last year for a brief reunion and be sent to new classrooms. This was the procedure pre-pandemic and worked well for all students to report promptly to the correct classroom to start the school year.

-All new students, TK – 5th, will start in the auditorium on the first day of school.

-Students Grades 1-5 will be provided with the classroom assignments and escorted to the classroom.

-Tk and K students will be called up by classroom groups and leave for class together.

-All parents and guardians are to stay in the auditorium. When all students have been sent to classrooms, PTA is hosting a welcome reception for all new parents and guardians.

-Breakfast in the Classroom will begin on the very first day of school in new classrooms.

-Lunch will be free for all students.

-Take home meals are discontinued.

-Drop off and pick up gates will be the same as last year. Grades Tk & K at the Kindergarten Gate. Grades 1-5 at the Playground Gate. Parent Volunteers are needed for the curbside morning valet drop off program. Gates will open at 7:50am.

-School Hours will be 8:15am -2:38pm (1:38 on Banked Time Tuesdays)

-ECF devices are available for families. Details are included in the links below.

-The New Families and Tk/K Orientation will be on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 8:30am in the school auditorium.

That’s it for now. Please be on the lookout for more information!
