A Message from our Principal

Welcome to El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies!  Our learning community strives to create and maintain a nurturing school environment.  The faculty, staff, administration, parents, and community members collaborate to provide our wonderful students with rigorous standards based instruction enriched with programs in arts, physical education, science and technology.

El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies uses the Common Core State Standards to guide instruction.  To access those standards, click for English Language Arts and Math.  LAUSD provides instructional support for teachers in both the content and practice of the revised standards.  The excellent faculty continues to engage in professional development. We are focus on blended learning (technology in the classrooms), NGSS, concept based math to supplement state and district adopted curriculum. This year, we are continuing to add to the implementation of the Write from the Beginning and Beyond in all classrooms to enhance instruction in student writing. Our Arts Program teachers provide opportunities for students to experience directed lessons in Dance and Vocal Music.  Our Wonder of Reading Library built through the hard work of the community, reaches out into our community to connect students with adults to instill in each child a love of reading. Our computer lab (supported with an instructional aide funded by the PTA) provides our students with hands on computer skills and promotes independent research. Our unique Habitat is an outdoor science classroom where students observe five different eco-systems and follow the life cycle of many insects and plants. The Parent Center is available for parents as they volunteer in our classrooms.  The Reading Garden provides a cozy outdoor venue for students to perform dramatic presentations and awards assemblies as well as parent gatherings.

The El Oro Way PTA supports the enrichment of the student body through the following programs:  YMCA PLAY (weekly psycho-motor lessons for all classrooms), a fieldtrip/enrichment for each grade, instructional aide for the computer lab, and host monthly community events. Please be sure to join and attend the PTA meetings, on the third Friday of each month, at 8:30am in the school Auditorium to learn about other programs and support they provide to the students at El Oro Way. Your participation in the work to fundraise to supplement the students educational experience is welcome!

Interested parents are invited to come for a tour of our school.  Tours are scheduled on a monthly basis, January - April. We are very proud of our school and maintain the belief that with the appropriate support and high expectations all children can succeed.
All non-residents interested in attending El Oro Way are to utilize the LAUSD Unified Enrollment process to apply for charter permits.
